Here are the rest of the funny items that Ray Gould sent for the Newsletter. Thanks again Ray.

When a flight is proceeding incredibly well, something was forgotten.

Just remember, if you crash because of weather, your funeral will be held on a sunny day.

Advice given to RAF pilots during WWII - When a prang (crash) seems inevitable, endeavour to strike the softest, cheapest object in the vicinity as slowly and gently as possible.

The Piper Cub is the safest airplane in the world; it can just barely kill you. (Attributed to Max Stanley, Northrop test pilot.)

A pilot who doesn't have any fear probably isn't flying his plane to it's maximum. (John McBride, Astronaut.)

If you are faced with a forced landing, fly the thing as far into the crash as possible. (Bob Hoover - renowned aerobatic and test pilot.)

If an airplane is in one piece, don't cheat on it; ride the bastard down. (Ernest K. Gann, Author and aviator.)

Never fly in the same cockpit with someone braver than you. There is no reason to fly through a thunderstorm in peacetime.

(Sign over an ops desk at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ, 1970) The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and a good bowel movement. The night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities in life where you can get to experience all three at the same time. (Author unknown but surely someone who has been there.)

Basic Flying Rules:
Try to stay in the middle of the air.
Do not go near the edges of it.
The edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of the ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space.
It is much more difficult to fly there.

You know that your landing gear is up and locked when it takes full power to taxi to the Terminal.

Thanks again Ray

By the time that you read these ramblings the Racing Against Drugs program at the Windsor Cleary Auditorium will either be finished or nearly so. Hundreds of kids will have seen our booth, listened to our spiel and gone on to other speakers and topics all dealing with aversion to drug use. Whether or not we can avert even one of these young minds from considering drug use is completely unknown. We only get a 7-minute crack in their lives to offer our alternative to a life of drugs and the terrible path that leads to. When you look in their eyes you can usually spot the ones who might be receptive to our alternative life style, you sure as heck can see the ones who could care less. We only hope that someone else at another booth can get their attention.

We get another kick at the can on March 21st and 22nd when the program comes to the Kinsmen Recreation Centre in Leamington. This effort is aimed more at the county kids and fewer schools participate resulting in the shorter run. But the effort is just as important and the children just as vulnerable. Please get involved. You will be amazed at how good it makes you feel to get involved with these young lives, perhaps even influencing them for the better. Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed, you might even enjoy the experience and heaven knows the kids will benefit from your good deed.

Man this seems like a long winter! Is it just me or are we getting more snow and colder weather to boot? Time is supposed to speed up as you grow older but it's not working with this cold season business. I have seen some of the "new stuff" that has been built this winter on display at the Racing Against Drugs booth this week. They look great and I am looking forward to seeing more new creations come spring.

Hope to see you at our next meeting, March 14th.

Hope to see you at the meeting. …Ron E.
