April 12, 2004 Ron Suchiu and Joe Gibson brought these beautiful Great Planes, Ryan PT22s to the meeting. One of the good reasons to attend our meetings is to see this kind of workmanship and dedication to detail.



APRIL. 12, 2004

The meeting was called to order at 19:10 hrs. by President Jim Jewell. The minutes of the March 8, 2004 meeting were read by Secretary Bill Bell. A motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Ed Gresik ,seconded by Bob Axford. Motion carried.

Treasurer's Report:

NEW BUSINESS:

President Jim Jewell thanked the volunteers for their help with the Racing Against Drugs Program in Windsor and Leamington. The program may be dropped in Leamington next year if the schools do not increase their participation. The club will continue to host schools on field trips. The field trips will be scheduled for Mondays during May and June as well as September and October as needed. The in-school building/flying projects went over well with the students and teachers.

The club will have an air show at the Coann Park in McGregor Aug. 13/14/15, Fri. to Sun. The date for the Cottam Horse Show will be Sun. July 18 from 10 am to 4 pm. The date of the Heritage Village show has to be confirmed.

Gene Perry from the Chatham Club gave us a run down on the scale fly-in at the Chatham air port July 24/25. The air port will be shut down on Sat. and Sun. for the activities. Pilots and planes will be needed. There will be camping and hanger storage for the planes.Opening day at our field will be Sunday May 16. The club will try to co-ordinate back to back dates with the Chatham club’s opening day. Their field is presently under water. Norm Long volunteered to look after the hotdogs, hamburgers and drinks. The safety committee will monitor radio frequencies. The field is rolled and ready to go. Volunteers are set up to cut the grass.

A motion to close the meeting was made by John McIntosh, seconded by Ray Gould and carried. The meeting was closed by President Jim Jewell at 19:40 hrs.

Following the close of business the members enjoyed refreshments as well as two Great Planes, Ryan PT 22’s brought in by Joe Gibson and Ron Suchiu. Joe gave the members a bit of history about the planes.

This was a great summer for flying and here are some samples of the activities the club attended and took part in.

Float flying at Ed Gresik’s cottage was a great experience. Bob Axford and JJ test Bob’s electric.

October brought the London Swap Meet and the crowning event for 2004, the First Annual Cross Country.

DON’T FORGET THE CHANGE OF LOCATION FOR THE NOVEMBER MEETING

We will be meeting at ACTION HOBBIES 197 Lansdowne Ave Kingsville. If you are not familiar with Kingsville, an easy way to get to the meeting place is to go to the intersection in downtown Kingsville at the traffic light. Go south on Division St. to Myrtle St., turn left (east) to the end of the street. This is Lansdowne and the gate to the Action Hobbies property is right there across the street in front of you.
